Intimidating Stealth
Well Met Travelers,
A few days ago, Owl posted a character concept of a rogue who intimidated people into not seeing him.
You can find that post: here
This inspired me to craft a new Open Legend Archetype: The Anti-rogue
The concept for this is, of course, a rogue who is so bad at being stealthy but so good at being intimidating and mean that he has tricked himself into believing that he is a rogue because no one "sees" him.
So first, the rules for Open Legend can be found: here
At first level, this character has 40 attribute points to spend
Agility- = presence
Fortitude-4
Might-4
Presence- 5
Logic-1
Perception-1
Will-2
So his physical attributes reflect the fact that a strong barbarianesque character with little agility.
Presence is high because he is large and intimidating, this stat combined with his attribute substitution feat are what allow him to "sneak" by scaring people into pretending he is stealthy.
Logic represents his ability to work through locks and puzzles
Perception is his ability to keep his eyes open for traps
Will is because like a barbarian, he can push through many obstacles by sheer force of will.
Next looking at his feats. With 6 feat points at level 1.
Attribute substitution 1
Vicious strike
Brutal Intimidation
As I said above, the attribute substitution gives his intimidating presence an outlet, making him capable of "performing" dexterous tasks.
Vicious strike because his blows are less precisely deadly and more of an outright mauling.
Brutal intimidation because rather than being a charismatic rogue, he brute forces his way through social interactions.
His Equipment Is going to be composed of a short sword, leather armor, lockpicks, and other basic adventuring supplies that a rogue would usually carry.
As with all of my characters, he has 2 perks and a flaw
Again, These are not a necessary part of the build, and you may choose ones that make more sense for your Character, but this is how I envision Ivan, as owl described him to me.
Extraordinary Presence- this character is built around his presence stat and his ability to be intimidating, so I just thought that having an advantage on intimidation would be nice.
Local Hero- Ivan is the hero among the halflings at the rogue school, and as such, any halfling from the school will help him according to this perk
Dimwitted- Ivan is not the best at most things book smart, he can pick a lock, but you may still be called Jim even though you told him 8 times that your name is Larry.
Favored Actions are going to be his physical attacks with a short sword- might-based
Knockdown
Grapple
Demoralized-Intimidating his enemies
Fear
Disarmed- he tried to be tricky like a rogue, but it's still brute force
I believe that is all for this character build, If you liked it, let me know in the comments, Owl gets all of the credit for this one, so give him a pat on the back as well.
Until Next Time,
Farewell and safe Journeys, Travelers
