Archetype: Death Knight
Well Met Travelers,
Welcome to another of my Open Legend RPG Archetypes. This Time, I am doing the Death Knight Archetype.
The Premise of this character is basically to be the Traditional "oathbreaker" or "anti-Paladin", a lawful character of morally questionable alignment who uses divine magic to manipulate the dead and smite his foes. He bears heavy armor and a sword, which he can imbue with unholy energy to reap the souls of his foes.
So First things first, all of the following rules-based stuff can be found: Here
Now, let's get down to the Statistics.
For the sake of simplicity, I have used the Specialized Hero Statistics under simple build.
Agility 2
Fortitude 4
Might - Attribute Substitution II
Learning 2
Will 3
Presence 2
Entropy 5
So the Physical stats are pretty par for the course, He is a physical fighter and as such needs to have decent physicals to hold his own in combat.
Agility isn't very high because he is going to be wearing heavy plate armor.
Fortitude is high so that he can meet the armor requirements and take some hits.
Might is attached to his entropy score because he draws supernatural strength from his deity's power.
Learning represents his understanding of religion, history, and the occult.
Will has points because he has warded his mind with unholy spells to protect himself from mental attacks.
Presence is connected to his aura of unholy power.
Entropy is, of course, the divine power that he draws from his dark god.
Next, moving into his feats, he will be first level with 6 feat points.
Attribute substitution II Entropy > Might
Combat Follow Through
As he gets to higher levels, here are some feats to consider:
Combat Momentum
Armor Mastery
Energy Resistance
His equipment will involve Plate Armor, a longsword, and a shield.
Perks and Flaws
As per normal, 2 perks and a flaw.
Warrior's Code - his code is that of service of to an unholy god and an oath of chivalry.
Divine Agent
Flaw - Proud
His favored actions are going to be:
Smite-sword attacks
Blinded
Hope Steal-Demoralized
Parry-Disarmed
Terrify-Fear
Unholy Blaze-Persistent Damage (invoked after rolling 10 damage on a smite)
Call to Shadow-Darkness
Pierce the Veil-Darkvision
Siphon Soul-Life Drain (his healing ability)
Raise Minor Undead-Summon Creature
Killing Prayer-Death (Eventually)
Raise Undead-Animation (eventually)
This is my rendition of a Death Knight.
As always, let me know what you think down in the comments below.
Until Next Time,
Farewell and Safe Journeys, Travelers.
