People of Antediluvian: Chlorans

The next race I have to cover are the Chlorans. They are a race of herbaceous and plantlike humanoids that dwell in Antedeluvian.

Appearance
Chlorans stand anywhere from a few inches to almost the size of a full grown tree. Their appearances are very much affected by where their seeds grew and the parents of those seeds. Obviously, if a cactus Chloran wanted to have children with a oak tree Chloran, it wouldn't be possible. Cross hybridization is only possible in the same way that it is possible on Earth. If you aren't sure how it works, there are many articles that explain it in depth. Chlorans resemble some sort of vegetation as if it were in a humanoid form. It could be a tree, flower, moss, cactus, algae, seaweed, fern, etc.

Natural Talents
Chlorans have a natural ability to talk to plants. Since they are born of these plants, plantspeak is their natural language. Chlorans also are able to sense the location of other Chlorans within a mile of them. This is because Chlorans commune with the nature around them. This leads me to explain that they can also affect the growth and blooming of vegetation. They can convince the plants to grow to their potential and help them in the fall and spring seasons. Chlorans can also blend into the environment, as long as it is an organic one. So, an oak tree Chloran would have advantage on a stealth check in a forest for example.

Lifespan
The lifespan of a Chloran varies immensely. Not much is known about their longevity; however, it is noted that they can live anywhere from a day to well over 5000 years. Again, this depends on the exact sub-race of Chloran. A morning glory Chloran, for example, would essentially wake up each day as a new person with no recollection of who they were the day before. This, however, does not affect them in any negative way. They understand that they only live for a day and are quite appreciative of it. It allows for them to make the best of their short life and live it to the fullest. On the other hand, a bristlecone pine Chloran can live to be over 5000 years and it is unknown how long after they can survive. There are legends of some Chlorans living to over 10,000 years, but it has yet to be proven or discovered.

Culture
Chlorans, much like the Antlarians, tend to gravitate towards Nature and Healing magicks. Nature magicks could range from creating toxic spores all the way to entangling someone with a vine. Chlorans also choose a more druidic path. This can allow them to alter their forms into other organic lifeforms such as plants or animals. However, when transforming into an animal, they tend to keep some of their Chloran traits, whether that's leaves, their color, or any other part about themselves.

Related imageChlorans are pretty solitary creatures that spend most of their time with other Chlorans. The only other races that they will associate with are the Antlarians, the Fungals, and occasionally the Mantir'ii. If another race were to be near a Chloran, they will either act hostile towards them or will hide much like a Dryad would in Greek mythology. However, not every Chloran dislikes the other races. Occasionally one might travel alongside a party of Elves or Humans because they are curious about them.

The Chlorans are proud believers in Fairie Tales and have a strong connection to the Fairie Realm. They have learned ways in which to travel between the Antediluvian and Fairie Planes. They have rituals that they perform to open portals into the realm and can pass freely between them. Occasionally, they will allow other races to pass, if they can be persuaded.

As I mentioned in my Antlarian post, Chlorans also celebrate in The Blossom Festival. This is their only festival that they celebrate and it is something they value dearly. They give thanks for the regrowth of the nature around them and party and rejoice for a week with all sorts of festivities.

Well, that pretty covers everything I have to say about the Chloran race. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them and Weasel or I will gladly answer them.

As always,
The Owl  ðŸ¦‰
