Echos of Eldritch Major Players: Thia Shattersoul

Well Met Travellers,

Periodically, I put out these posts outlining the story of the various important NPC's in my world. Last Time, I covered Balamer Shargrim, High Lord of the Champions of Dragonshire. In this case, I'm covering another member of the Brotherhood of the Whispering Ring. This time, I'm covering the Ivory Queen's first character, Thia Shattersoul, Bard Extraordinaire, Headmistress of the College of Ivory, and wife of Ander Shattersoul.

Thia Shattersoul and Norbert

Thia is a half-elf, but from an early point in time, she was viewed with suspicion. Thia's Mother was a Dark Elf outcast from the Dark Elf Capital city of Bwael Brorn. As such, Thia's mother was hunted for many years by dark elf assassins, and after years of running, she was wounded and presumed dead not far from a human village. Not long after, she was found by a human man who was versed in medicine who brought her back to the village and healed her. It did not take the two long to become fast friends, and subsequently fall in love. It was from this union that Thia was born.

Thia's Father, Accalon, was the town librarian and a man of many hats. Her mother, Tamlia, took up a position helping at the small one-room schoolhouse. Accalon was a very talented man who imparted much of his musical skill upon his daughter, and her mother taught her that her musical talents could heal and make people smile. Smiles would soon fade after Thia's 13th birthday, however, as having learned that they had failed to kill Tamlia, the dark elves returned and burned the whole village to the ground and murdered her father in front of her mother before killing Tamlia in turn.

After the fires had cleared, Thia climbed out of her hiding spot at the forest's edge to look for her parents, but what she found instead was a small emerald-colored flame drake. This drake she would later name Norbert, and he would be her single friend for a long time, as she would leave her past behind her to make her living as a traveling bard in memory of the things her parents had taught her.

Throughout the next seven years, Thia traveled from town to town with Norbert. With her tiny dragon, she made a name for herself as Collette the Dragon Whisperer. With Norbert, she created simple melodies that she would sing over to him until he could roughly imitate it. After singing the songs to the crowd, she would let Norbert have his go; the crowds were amazed. She made quite a name for herself in these seven years, but her fame would soon change, as one day, she would meet those who would become the Brotherhood of the Whispering Ring.

As a member of the Brotherhood, Thia served as a morale booster for the brotherhood. She helped them in many a tight space, but she really came into her own by landing the finishing blow during a fight with the Dragon King, Corduth the Undying.
Ander Shattersoul, Thia's Husband

With the danger behind them, Ander and Thia were wed, and after helping Balamer to establish a small village that would grow into the capital of Dragonshire, they would move to Highthorn and she would use her fame to establish the college of Ivory, a school where bards can go to begin to hone their craft among master musicians, storytellers, and other entertainers.

Thia has given birth to her and Ander's two children, Illara and Adrian Shattersoul, the former becoming a wizard like her father and the latter following in his mother's footsteps.

Thia dresses in fine gowns and the attire of a noblewoman. She has vibrant red hair, and charming lavender eyes. Her skin tone and pointed ears betray the fact that she is a half-dark elf. Her facial features are sharper than most people, but they are softer than what one would expect from an elf.

Thia is funny and kind, but she also has a darker side that is concealed beneath a stern and sarcastic side. She is loving of her husband and children, and she would do anything to protect them. She has a quick wit and an incredible sense of humor. She is also tired, for in the years since the death of Corduth, she has grown tired of fame and constantly urges her husband to retire from the limelight and let others take over.
The Ivory Queen's Miniature of Thia and Norbert

Thia is a powerful bard. Her musical and storytelling talents are incredible, and her magical talents rival that of even her husband.

Norbert, her small drake, is a simple beast who has quite an inflated sense of himself. He loves Thia and the children, and he tolerates Ander. He is a happy little creature and his sense of pride is very important to him, for he likes to believe that he is a true dragon (and becomes quite indignant if someone mentions something to the contrary). He cannot speak, but he has a strong mental connection to Thia and the other members of the Shattersoul family.

I believe that is all for this time.

Until Next Time,
Farewell and Safe Journeys, Travellers.
