People of Antediluvian: Antlarians

Greetings travelers!!

*Apologies for the hiatus on posting but I have been very busy with schooling and life and such. I had been working on some drafts during that time period but they never saw the light because there was much more that needed said in them. These drafts will be coming out as posts finally within the next couple of weeks so please bear with me. Thank you for your understanding and I hope you enjoy today's post!*

Today we discuss the Antlarians. The Antlarians are probably the most proud race in all of Antediluvian.... (The Dwarves would argue that.)

Appearance and Lifespan
The Antlarians stand on two hoofed-legs and can be most distinguished by that. They are covered head to hoof in fur which acts as a form of warmth in addition to any articles of clothing they wear. They can also be identified by the antlers on their heads. The males are the only ones who grow these antlers, however. As a youth, the antlers begin to grow in small and it isn't until they reach around 17 years of age that their antlers mature to a much larger size. Their antlers never stop growing and it is quite respected to have a large pair of antlers.

Antlarians live to around 80 years old, much shorter than most other races in Antediluvian. This is due mainly to the fact that their environment can be quite dangerous for them and the sparring between one another for dominance can also lead in an early demise. Antlarians can weigh anywhere from 80 lbs to 1200 lbs when they are fully grown, depending on sub-race of Antlarian. They also range in height from 5-8 feet when fully grown. The antlers do not count towards the height of the Antlarian.

The sub-races are as follows:
-Deer
-Caribou/Reindeer
-Elk
-Moose

Culture
Antlarians are very proud of their culture. When it comes to food, all Antlarians are herbivores, choosing to eat plants, berries, and nuts. You will never see an Antlarian eating any form of meat unless there is some sort of mental issue with them, such as cannibalism or psychosis. Antlarians are nomadic beings. They choose to never stay in one place for too long and follow where the food grows. Antlarians are not necessarily hunters, but they ARE gatherers. They will send out members of their tribe to gather berries, nuts, mushrooms, and other fruits and vegetables that grow in the area. The only time in which Antlarians will hunt is for skins and pelts. The meat generally is offered back to the wild. Antlarians tend to have a more druidic culture. They will commune with nature and are very religious when it comes to being in nature. You will find that most Antlarians choose to follow a path of nature and/or healing magicks. Not all choose this path, but it is most common for them,

You will never see the antlers being covered because it is considered quite shameful. The only acceptance is during the festivals that the Antlarians hold. They will adorn their antlers with beads and decorations and forms of lights. These festivals will involve lots of music and dancing with annually made foods for the tribes. There are two different festivals that they hold. One in late Fall that is celebrated before the Winter that follows, The Festival of Leaves, and the other is in the Spring that is celebrated with the Chlorans for the regrowth of nature after the Winter season, The Blossom Festival.

Antlarians tend to make their houses like tepees or lean-to's. Some will go as far as to make a cabin out of logs or occupy a small cave. Others will sleep in a hallowed out log or on a bed of leaves or in a hammock depending on personal preference.

The clothing choice for Antlarians generally consists of pelts and furs or leather. Others will use things of nature such as tree bark or leaves and reeds. Some will go as far as to wear full metal armor or plate or chain mail. It is very rare for an Antlarian to wear "normal" clothes made of cloth or cotton. It is not impossible, however. A moose sub-race that lives in a populated city of multiple races might wear a 3 piece suit and work at a bar or tavern. Or maybe a deer sub-race would wear a dress to a gala. Overall, their amount of clothing tends to be minimal due to the presence of their fur.

"MOOSE MEN! MOOSE MEN! MOOSE MEN!" - Chant of the Moose Men Warriors

Well, that's all I have to say on the Antlarians. If you wish to know more or you have certain questions about them, feel free to leave a comment with your question.
